How long are treatments?

For your initial visit, plan for 45 minutes! Once you arrive, you will have to fill out health history forms. After that, you will begin your assessment which can take up to 30 minutes!

Your second visit can take up to 20 minutes. You will go over your x-rays in more detail and have your diagnosis and treatment plan explained to you. After that you will receive your treatment!

Every other treatment after your second visit is approximately 5-10 minutes.

What are the techniques you use?

Spinal Decompression, activator, &  manual adjustments (cracking).

What is an activator?

A small handheld spring-loaded instrument which delivers a small impulse to the spine. The aim is to produce enough force to move the vertebrae but not enough to cause injury.  Many people who have concerns about "cracking" have excellent results with using the activator.

What is Spinal Decompression?

It's full term is Spinal Flexion Distraction Spinal Decompression but we call it "Spinal Decompression" for short.  This is a well researched and documented spinal adjustment that helps relieve spinal pain and return patients to their desired quality.  There is no "cracking" or "twisting" associated with this procedure. It works by dramatically dropping the pressure in the spinal discs, thereby helping restore the disc height.  This helps reduce any pressure on spinal nerves thereby dramatically reducing any symptoms and allowing the patient to return to regular daily activity.

How do I know if I need Orthotics?

-Check your shoes! If there are certain areas that are worn out more than others, you could be suffering from over-pronation, (when the arch collapses too much and the foot rolls inward excessively, distributing weight unevenly), or excessive supination, (when the foot leans to the outside and weight is distributed along the outside). Orthotics can help support those area's that you are favouring and create a better balance in your step.

-If you have any pain in your foot or heel, you could be suffering from plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, hammertoe, or bunions! Orthotics can help relieve this pain.

-Have you had an injury to your lower extremities lately or in the past and are still recovering? Orthotics can help provide a proper support!

-Hip or back pain....

Do I have to get "cracked"?

This entirely depends on your diagnosis.  After a complete Physical Exam and x-ray analysis is done,  (see                  , and                                    ), Dr. Hamdon will determine which treatment method is best for you.  However, getting "cracked" is not the only way to treat certain ailments.  After discussing things with you on the second visit, both Dr. Hamdon and you will decide if you need to be "cracked" or not. So if you have any concerns with "cracking", then NO, you don't have to get "cracked"!

Do you take x-rays?

Yes! We do x-rays right here in our clinic.

Does it hurt?

What is Chiropractic?

The diagnosis and manipulative treatment of misalignments of the joints, especially those of the spinal column, which are held to cause other disorders by affecting the nerves, muscles, and organs.

Can I still get adjusted if I'm pregnant?

Absolutely! All chiropractors are trained to work with women who are pregnant. Investing in the fertility and pregnancy wellness of women who are pregnant or trying to conceive is a routine care for most chiropractors.
