A chiropractic adjustment, also known as Chiropractic manipulation, manual manipulation, or spinal manipulation is a common treatment for many body ailments or dysfunctions.

A chiropractic adjustment refers to a chiropractor "moving" or "re-setting" a vertebrae/vertebra or other joints of the body that have abnormal movement patters or fail to function normally.

The objective of this Chiropractic treatment is to reduce "subluxation", with the goals of increasing range of motion, reducing nerve irritability and improving function.

A Chiropractic adjustment usually involves or is associated with

  • a gentle thrust to the vertebra
  • a possible audible or "pop" (release of gas/air from the joint space) which is known as a joint cavitation.
  • a release of endorphins

What To Expect...

Continuing Treatment...2nd Visit

During your first visit with us, you will meet with Dr. Hamdon and talk about why you are visiting us. You will discuss your current health issue and any past problems you have had. After Dr. Hamdon has learned a little bit about you, Dr. Hamdon will perform certain orthopedic tests which will help with your diagnosis.  After that you will do on-site x-rays, after a quick review of the x-rays with Dr. Hamdon you will receive your first treatment!   Also note that you will review these x-rays in more detail during your next appointment, (refer to second visit ).

When you return for your second visit, Dr. Hamdon will review your x-rays in more detail with you. This is when Dr. Hamdon will explain certain measurements and/or line drawings he has done when analyzing your x-rays.  Dr. Hamdon will also help explain your diagnosis which will help determine what part of your spine needs to be worked on and for how long.  Therefore this will determine your treatment plan by Dr. Hamdon will tell you how many times he needs to see you and over what period of time.

Treatment plans can go anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple months depending on the injury or cause of pain. After your plan is complete, it is always a good idea to come for maintenance every month to prevent any future discomfort or pain.

He will also schedule you for a re-x-ray after the treatment plan to objectively analyse how things changed.  You will then get to see a before and after x-ray and actually see the changes in your spine!!!

Following the x-ray analysis and the treatment plan recommendation, you will receive your second treatment!
